About Tim Joel
The Joel Gallery is now the home of British oil painter Tim Joel. After gaining a distinction in BTEC General Art and Design at Epsom College of Art, and a BA degree in photography and moving image from Napier University, Edinburgh, he left the UK and travelled to Asia, and it was here that he began painting in April 2000 whilst living in a beach hut on Koh Samui in southern Thailand.
During his adventures abroad, he has established or been part of, various different creative ventures over the years including art movements, galleries, studios, poet platforms, art schools, workshops, seminars and public murals. In 2005 Tim published his first book ‘Poet Painter’ at the Taiwan International Book Expo.
Despite some struggles, his travels have given him the freedom to explore and appreciate many different genres of painting. His unique style has become recognised and hugely popular. His works are in collections all over the world. The British “Gauguin of Taiwan” is now back on English soil and running The Joel Gallery with the rest of his family in Mousehole Cornwall
