About Gerhard van der Westhuizen
Gerhard is a self-taught artist born in Cape Town in 1970. Known for his contemporary feminine portraits with striking eyes, he works in oils, canvas, concrete, resin and more. He has recently created abstract resin sculptures.
Painter Meets Sculptor
In 2018 at the Franschhoek Art Festival, Gerhard met sculptor Mambakwedza Mutasa. Their shared vision sparked a creative collaboration and friendship.
